Beer Style History
The Kölsch, originally from Cologne, Germany, is one of the lightest, if not the lightest, ales in existence. Its lightness is only rivaled by its delicateness and complexity. A true Kölsch should be on the drier side and have low or medium alcohol content. American brewpubs and breweries have based many of their lightest “Blonde” or “Golden” ales off the Kölsch, but tend to stray away from tradition in order to appeal to local tastes.
Karma Kölsch plays off our soft and fruity “Das Kölsch” and adds pleasant floral notes provided by the Thai tea. Thai tea is similar to chai so you’ll find notes of vanilla, ceylon, cinnamon, anise and black assam earthiness. Its floral bouquet makes this beer a pleasure to smell.
